Simmer

By Breanna Rocha

a midday evening,

the sun shines on my naked shoulder

as i saunter through the sand.

my stroll on the beach

with a brown-eyed girl,

simmering under her love.

waves colliding together

takes over the static chitchat of strangers,

back of hands softly brushing

while the breeze blows between us.

the smell of sunscreen

and her perfume,

breathing it in and out,

it’s a scent i’ll never lose.

my salty lips from the ocean

and smudged lip gloss,

i swear i feel the sand move

when i look at her.

the warmth of a lover beside me

underneath the blissful sun,

my brown eyed girl,

i will simmer here eternally with you.
