The Bunker Review

Dear Departed Lover

By: Chelsea Brown

Let’s meet somewhere outside of space and time;

Beyond the speed chases and gunfights,

Beyond your quivering frame,

And the nightmares that leave you wide-eyed at 3am.

Let’s meet somewhere their bullets can’t reach us.

Our differences would be indistinguishable

When my fingers finally lace between yours.

I want to protect you from the demons that cling to your spine.

As long as I’m around, you can outrun your self-induced fate,

And live with me amongst the stars.

So let’s meet somewhere outside of space and time,

Beyond the blood staining your hands,

And the tears running down your cheeks

Even if that place only exists in our dreams.
