The Bunker Review

Greedy

By: Isabel Brown

I thought love was something I would understand

When the stars and Sun’d meet in mere daylight,

Now my cheeks are the Sun

And his eyes are the stars

The gods gaze upon in fascination.

You’re an abstract piece of art

That attracts me with every new angle I find within.

Sideways is a chiseled sculpture my heart oozes to

Turn it back upside down

And suddenly you’re pretty again.

Right side up is a little funny-

A soft shiver down my spine

As my brain dissolves into your favorite colors.

It is the hysterical epiphany that I am complete.

Take all of me or absolutely nothing

At this point, this messy ember within me

Refuses to die out regardless.

I thought love was something I would understand

When the stars and Sun’d meet in mere daylight.

They still haven’t,

But at least we did.
