Spring Flowers Bring Empty Hours

By: Kayleen Thurow

Spring blossoms in front of our eyes

Cherry trees sweet syrup

Melts into our day

We swell with joy

And breathe crisp air

While mint tickles our throats

A soft dribbble of rain

Dances on our foreheads

As camouflaged tears swim in our eyes

Spring is beautiful

But spring cannot

Fix the broken twigs

And ripped petals

The hearts shattered

And families melted

Spring conceals what lies beneath our

 perfectly clean houses

For our basements are forever

Stained
