The Bunker Review

Your Selkie

By Theo Crump

you have gotten just close enough

to smell the perfume she lightly puts on every morning,

proximity,

her beauty is reflected in the deep water

the sun bounces off her skin

if only,

to feel the genuine touch of another

if only,

            to be The Fool

                            innocent again,

if only you could

             find reverie in life

             from falling apart

                           with her blessing

but at night she sheds her skin,

             leaving you the broken heathen.
