Wheat field?
It is a field
Planted with wheat.
Wheat is used to make bread.
Bread is the joy
Of humanity,
Apparently.
Apparently, you
Have grown,
Bigger than before.
Are you still the same
As I’ve known all this time?
You tempt me, your
eyes shimmer
Differently now,
Your lips become an infection
On my cheek, eating
The skin and gnawing
To the bone.
The despair
Of humanity.
You’re not the same
As I’ve known all this time.
There’s a new feeling
In you, as it crawls
Out of me. A loss
Of pure humanity.
I’m distant
Without you, distance
Corresponds to
my helplessness.
my abandonment
In your wheat field,
In your corn maze.
What is a corn maze?
A popular autumn attraction.
What is autumn?
No one can remember now.
Everyone says it’s all summer now.
What is summer?
It’s a season that
inches closer as
my fingers burn
and twist
Under the rotten sun.
Rotten bread is all that’s left
Of you now.
