Jessica Castro, Wells.
If the earth danced unbound by the weight of its anchor
Would the world as we know it disappear?
Or would the clouds that yearned for the skies
Take to the steady grounded trees out of fear?
Would distant planets drift further into this cosmic playground,
Wandering aimlessly through shadowy realms yet unshown?
Or would Venus, in her longing, cling to Earth,
Bounded by the gravity of all she’s ever known?
And would we, as humans, lose touch of our very essence,
As the faucets of our minds run wild?
Or would we cling desperately to the idiotic illusion of stability,
In a grasp for comfort like a chaos soaked child?
Would we rebuild our weightless world anew?
Or drift in endless, aimless swirls?
In a world where weight no longer binds,
What would we seek in this freefall’s whirl?
